Statement of Congessman Pete King on the Passing of Governor Hugh Carey

Hugh Carey was an outstanding Governor who literally saved New York City and New York State from bankruptcy and financial collapse.

He was a war hero, an outstanding Congressman and a regular neighborhood guy with a terrific sense of humor.

Hugh Carey represented the best of politics and government.

I was proud to call him a friend.

May he rest in peace.
