Pete King's Thoughts & Whereabouts: 9/7 - 9/9

7:15 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. - tour on FDNY "343" fireboat on Hudson River along west side of Manhattan. The 343 is a new fireboat purchased with homeland security funds and will be commissioned into action on September 11th. It is a very impressive vessel - probably the last of its kind - and is named, of course, for the 343 firefighters who died on 9/11. It was good to be with Commissioner Sal Cassano who is a terrific guy.
Wednesday, September 8th
10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. - back to back news conferences at Word Trade Center on 9/11 healthcare and legislation for Congressional Gold Medal for Fr. Mychal Judge, the FDNY chaplain killed in 9/11. Large media turnout.
9:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. - Rosemary Cain, a 9/11 mother whose FDNY son George was killed on 9/11, was at my home to watch the WTC Imam on Larry King. WCBS-TV filmed us watching the show and asked Rosemary for comments. She did an excellent job detailing the Imam's flawed arguments.
Thursday, September 9th
5:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. - to and from Manhattan for Today Show to debate WTC Mosque issue with representative from CAIR. The show went well. Meredith Vieira did good job moderating.
2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. - to and from Trenton, New Jersey to meet with Governor Chris Christie who is doing an outstanding job making the tough decisions and turning the state around. We discussed budget issues, homeland security funding and his Governor's race last year. I also asked him to consider running for President since he is the only potential GOP candidate would could appeal to Reagan Democrats. He said he would not run.

7:00 p.m. - 9:15 p.m. - to Oheka Castle for dinner meeting with Suffolk Police Veterans Association (Suffolk Police officers who are military veterans). Great evening. Terrific guys. I was the principle speaker discussing homeland security and thanking Suffolk P.D. for its extraordinary efforts.
