10:20 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. - phone interview with Jeffrey Lichtman (970AM) on radicalization hearings.
3:10 p.m. - 3:25 p.m. - tape interviews at home with WCBS-TV (on S&P's credit reduction) and WNBC-TV (Afghanistan tragedy) for 6pm news. (Watch here)
3:55 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. - tape interview at home with WABC-TV on Afghanistan for 6pm news.
6:45 p.m. - 6:50 p.m. - phone interview with Newsday on Afghanistan.
Monday, August 8th
I issue statement on Hugh Carey the former Governor who dies yesterday at 92. He was a truly great American who I was proud to call a friend. (Read statement)
10:00 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. - meetings in district office including Kevin Tabarus, the Treasurer of Local 300 of the National Postal Handlers Union; and Rockland County Sheriff Jim Kralik and Suffolk County Police Chief Mark White on homeland security.
5:00 p.m. - 9:50 p.m. - with my son Sean to Gargulio's restaurant in Coney Island and Cyclones-Yankees game. Terrific evening. Cyclones win 7-4. Spoke to many people throughout the night who were very critical of President Obama.


Tuesday, August 9th
8:30 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. - speak at ACIT breakfast at Crest Hollow. Good crowd. Probably over 300. I spoke on financial crisis and homeland security.
12:00 p.m. - 12:25 p.m. - meet in district office with County Legislator Ed Ambrosino and John Crist who have recorded a video "Where are my heroes?" which was inspired by 9/11 and is dedicated to the men and women of our Armed Forces, Law Enforcement and Fire Service. Very moving and inspirational. Will be released in 7-10 days. All proceeds to veterans.
