8:00 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. - watch President Obama's speech on Iraq. Do phone interview with Channel 12 and WCBS radio. I found the speech flat and disconnnected. He seemed to be saying that the war was worthwhile and praised our soldiers - - but then seemed to blame the war for our economic troubles. President also said that Afghanistan is vital (I agree) but then said he will start withdrawing troops next July. This is clearly a mixed message, making it harder for us to get tribal leaders in Afghanistan to commit to our side because they are afraid we will bail out on them.

2:25 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. - phone interview with Marcia Kramer (WCBS-TV).
