Pete King's Thoughts & Whereabouts: 8/25 - 8/28
Tuesday, August 25
Morning-Afternoon
New York Times has page 1 story on Rudy Giuliani saying that I now think Rudy is leaning toward running. Motivation is his belief that 2009 chaos and dysfunction in Albany are similar to NYC in 1993 when he came in to show that the City was governable, when most experts said the Big Apple was finished.
Channel 2 (Marcie Kramer), CNN (Mary Snow) and WPIX-11 (Marvin Scott) interview me on this for evening news.
Afternoon-Evening
Attorney General Holder has decided to reopen investigations of CIA agents who interrogated top Islamic terrorists and obtained information which saved innocent lives. This is disgraceful. I spoke with Ben Smith of Politico and said Holder and the Obama administration have declared war on the CIA. Smith immediately posted the story (see here). WNBC-TV Channel 4 came to my home that evening to interview me onthis story for the 11:00 p.m. news.

Woke up to news that Ted Kennedy died. Had gotten to know him fairly well, primarily through our work on the Irish Peace Process, and always found him to be a friendly guy (see Newsday story). We didn't agree on many issues but he was a legislative giant. R.I.P.
