Wednesday, April 7, 2010
7:45 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. - to Ground Zero to meet with Lee Ielpi at the Tribute WTC Visitor Center. Lee's son Jonathan (FDNY) died on 9/11. Lee had dedicated himself to the Visitor Center and it is extraordinary. Understated but very moving. (tributewtc.org)
3:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. - meet with UJA Federation of NY/LI. They are doing outstanding in tough economic times.
6:15 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. - fundraiser at La Marmite in Mineola. Very good turnout. Terrific job by Robert MacBride. - - About 9:15 started receiving phone calls from homeland security staff on possible shoe bomb attempt on DC-Denver flight.
10:05 p.m. - 10:50 p.m. - numerous phone calls. End result is that a Qatar diplomat was smoking, made stupid reference to lighting his shoes and was held by federal air marchals.
11:00 p.m. - 11:02 p.m. - live interview on WNBC-TV (Ch. 4) with Jonathan Dienst on plane incident.
