Busy Day
8:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. - Meet in Capitol with the President of Georgia Mitchell Saakashvili to discuss situation with Russia which occupies 20% of Georgia since the invasion of 2008. Despite this occupation and the ongoing threat from Russia, Georgia's economy is increasing at an annual rate of 6% and crime rate is steadily devasting. Strong U.S. ally. I assured him of my support.

9:20 a.m. - 9:50 a.m. - GOP Conference. Minority Leader John Boehner says all indicators are positive for Republicans. But there is still more than 6 1/2 months until elections.

10:00 a.m. - 10:55 a.m. - Homeland Security Committee hearing on Federal Protection Service which secures federal buildings, including courthouses. FPS Director says that he only has enough personnel to fully secure the 9/11 trial in NYC for two weeks.

11:10 a.m. - 11:35 a.m. - Meet in 339 Cannon with Colombian Ambassador Carolina Barco. Colombia has been a strong ally against terrorism (FARC) and drug gangs.

12:05 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. - Meet in office with leaders of Jewish-American Orthodox community. Very concerned about Obama policy toward Israel.

1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. - Press conference attacking Dept. of Interior for preventing the border Patrol form securing the Mexican border on public lands because it might damage the land or endangered species such as the Sonoran pronghorn. This is madness since illegal immigration gangs use the land to smuggle aliens and drugs into the country. I am co-sponsoring legislation to end this.

2:10 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Classified meeting with Jordan's King Abdullah at Intelligence Committee. King Abdullah is an exceptionally strong ally.

3:15 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. - To House floor for votes including John Boehner's resolution demanding a full investigation of the Eric Massa scandal. Democrats vote to delay the investigation (235-157).

7:15 p.m. - 9:45 p.m. - Attend dinner at Mayflower Hotel sponsored by Institute of World Politics, a foreign policy organization. Main speaker was Gen. Mike Hayden, the former CIA head. Very thoughtful speaker discussing how dangerous the world is.
