5:50 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. - Meet with Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren. Discuss Egypt, Jordan and continuing aid to Israel.
6:40 p.m. - 7:20 p.m. - Votes on House floor.
Thursday, February 17th
8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. - Breakfast fundraiser.
9:45 a.m. - 11:20 a.m. - To House floor to vote for PATRIOT Act (HR 514). Passes by vote of 279-143. Also vote on numerous CR amendments
11:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. - Photo session in339 Cannon for New York Magazine upcoming profile.
1:05 p.m. - 1:35 p.m. - Meet with Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen.
Because we were scheduled to finish voting yesterday. I had no meetings or events scheduled for today in Washington. The entire day and evening were spent debating and voting on amendments to the continuing resolution.
1:35 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. - to House floor for 15 votes.
8:40 p.m. - 9:45 p.m. - to House floor for 21 votes.
Saturday, February 19th
1:05 a.m. - 2:15 a.m. - to House floor for 19 votes.
3:45 a.m. - 4:35 a.m. - to House floor for 4 votes including final passage of the CR (H.R. 1) by a margin of 235 - 189. This is $100 million below the President's 2011 budget requests which makes it the largest budget cut in history. Now it goes to the Senate. Very uncertain days ahead since action must be taken by March 4th.
5:25 a.m. - 8:50 a.m. - to Union Station. Take Amtrak to Penn Station. Sleep most of the trip.
Sunday, February 20th
8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. - boxing session with Chris Cardona at Bellmore Kick-Boxing. Good to be back in the ring after being away for 3 months because of foot injury.
8:35 a.m. - 8:50 a.m. - I'm not in the show (Religion on the Line, WABC radio) but Rabbi Potasnik and Deacon McCormack defend me against the attacks I'm getting because of Muslim radicalization hearings.
4:45 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. - with Rosemary to NY Public Library in Manhattan (40th St. & 5th Ave.) for "Three Faith" exhibit of religious artifacts from Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths. Sponsored by NY Board of Rabbis and coordinated by Rabbi Potasnik. Religious leaders attending include Archbishop Dolan. Very enjoyable evening.
Monday, February 21st
11:15 a.m. - phone interview from home with WCBS radio on Jack Johnson bill.
1:30 p.m. - 1:31 p.m. - phone interview with Rich Sisk of Daily News on Jack Johnson.
2:15 p.m. - 2:25 p.m. - interview at home with Channel 12 on Libya.
Tuesday, February 22nd
Arrive at Massapequa Park office at 8 a.m. Uniformed police are along Park Blvd. and barricades have been set up for the demonstrations and counter demonstration which will start at about 10:45 a.m. on the Muslim radicalization hearings.
10:25 a.m. - 10:35 a.m. - interview with Fox5 and Channel 55 on demonstrations for tonight's news.
12:00 p.m. - 12:20 p.m. - meet with reps. from Calvary Hospital regarding reimbursement formula. Hospital does great work for terminally ill.
12:30 p.m. - 12:40 p.m. - interview with Channel 2 and Channel 12 on demonstrations for tonight's news.
I did not go out to the demonstrations but the police told me the crowds were about equal size and volume. (See here)
1:00 p.m. - 1:20 p.m. - meet with Nassau County IDA officials.
2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. - meet with Coast Guard Rear Admiral Daniel Neptun, Dist. 1 Commander. As always, very good meeting.
3:00 p.m. - 3:35 p.m. - photos with service academy nominees.
3:40 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. - WPIX interview on hearings and Jack Johnson for tonight's news.
Wednesday, February 23rd
7:15 a.m. - 7:20 a.m. - phone interview from home with Fox 5 TV on radicalization hearings. (Watch here)
10:05 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. - meet in district office with rep. of Kidney Registry.
10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. - meet with Hofstra professor on proposed counterterrorism program.
1:10 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. - meet with Muslim residents on hearing. Honest differences.
