How You Can Help Rep. King

Dear Friend, 

When President Obama was inaugurated on January 20, 2009, no “political expert” could have predicted that less than two years later Republicans would win back the House of Representatives in the most sweeping GOP victory since 1938.

The American people have spoken. They had enough of a President who went around the world apologizing for America and an administration which refused to even use the word “terrorist.” They had enough of out-of-control spending gimmicks, record deficits, high unemployment and the worst economic devastation since the 1930’s. The American people have given Republicans the opportunity to lead. Now we have to deliver.

As Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee I have scheduled a series of hearings on the Islamist threat to our nation. These hearings include port security, chemical plant security and allocation of homeland security funds which are so vital to the New York City-Long Island region which are the main targets of Al Qaeda. My most controversial hearing will be on the radicalization of the Muslim-American community. No matter how much I am attacked for this, I will not back down.

On the economic front, I am once again serving on the Financial Services Committee where I will do all I can to restore the strength of our economy. We must reduce spending and resist any attempt to raise taxes. We have to allow the private sector to create jobs.

I try to be your voice in Washington, D.C. I say what you and I think and I want to continue my efforts in Washington. Even though the next election is 20 months away, I have to start raising money now – especially since New York will lose two Congressional districts in 2012 because of redistricting and the Democrats have targeted my district. Very simply, they want to redraw this district and merge it with other districts to make it very difficult for me to be re-elected.

Those who know me know that it is not possible to finance my campaigns. During all my years in Congress I have relied upon the financial support of close friends and supporters like you to fight off the special interests and their allies in the liberal media.
